about

This song isn't specifically anything other than observations made on the buses of the Twin Cities.

The chords and lyrics were put together in Minneapolis, and then reassembled by live musicians in Pittsburgh. Mike Baltzer plays guitar and sings. Bill Bernstein plays keyboards and sings. Greg Brancati plays bass, but does not sing. Laura Pollanen sings, and often claps. Steve Sobeck plays drums, and usually sings when a mic is available. The basic track was recorded live with remarkable ease in a 9X15 room at ABC Storage in McKees Rocks, using a ZOOM H4 portable recording device on August 16th, 2011. Vocal overdubs were later made by Mike and Laura on her MacBook.

lyrics

I get off the bus
Look both ways, and cross the street.
Everything I need
In the pocket of my 517's.
People go to class
Enrolled at MCTC.
Some of those people have
High retention of the books they read.

I will talk you down
From the top of the tallest tree.
I won't keep you out
Of places that you'd rather be...

When I'm heading home
Southwest on the 17
You call me to tell me
What that new recipe needs.
When you go downtown
Pay attention when you cross the street
Some Twin Cities drivers
Will run over your poor little feet.

I would win a race
To the top of the tallest tree
Waiting here isn't so bad
But I've got places that I'd rather be...
